Haunted Words

Like shards of broken glass
Your words pierce through me
Like sharp pieces of metal
Under my skin they bury

Like a double-edged sword
Your words cut me into two
Like taunting wicked chimes
They taught me to hate you

Kept in powerful restraint,
I could’ve almost forgotten
But as a seed bears a fruit,
From the silence they awaken

They now speak from inside
Like strong fermented pain
Released, they all resurface
To haunt me once again.
