Anticipated Return

Time is running, the clock has turned,
As she waited patiently for his return.
In her heart was a growing concern,
Paranoia that she so quickly learned.

A growing unease hung in her head,
As silence filled the house with dread.
With coffee in hand, she sits on the bed.
“Make him safe,” her prayer said.

Dawn had arrived; a new day will begin,
But the fear remained instilled within,
Out the window nothing could be seen,
Not with the cold, clouded, foggy screen.

Tears streamed down, her smile erased,
Meeting on the lips that begged for grace.
But when she saw from afar his familiar face,
She hushed her crying, hastened her pace.

Suddenly all fears vanished, hope replaced-
As she ran to meet him in a warm embrace.
